I can’t help but feel that this blog is getting a little self-involved. So instead I want to talk not about me, but a pair of old trainers, that after 3 years of loyal service are going into retirement.
I wouldn’t ordinarily blog about items of clothing, but I feel a certain affection for these old friends. You see, they have enjoyed quite a journey during their lifetime, traveling further than any of their predecessors:
Nationwide
- Walsall, Birmingham, Bridgnorth, Derbyshire and various other locations around the Midlands (of course!)
- Hollyhead, Llangollen, Anglesey, Dolgellau, Coed-y-Brenin and other deep dark parts of North Wales
- Carlisle (return visits to)
- Huddersfield, Leeds, Manchester and other parts of ‘the North’
- Newquay, Torbay, Bournemouth, Bath and Bristol
- London, Brighton, Horley and other returns to the South East of England
Worldwide
- Sydney, Australia
- Cairns, Australia
- San Francisco, CA, USA
- Palo Alto, CA, USA
With quick stops of at
- Bangkok Thailand
- Dubai, UAE
- Washington D.C., USA
Okay, I admit it. This is a veiled attempt to again talk about me! I just find it fascinating that the last three years have seen me travel much further than I ever have before, yet on the grand scale of things there is still so much more to see.
My new trainers have a lot to live up to.

Now that was interesting! I'd love to see more posts like this one. Cool pic too.
Funny how our belongings can come to take on a life of their own as we get used to them...
I love the photos of Oz from the plane on the way back from Cairns, they're beautiful. I love sky and cloud photos regardless but that Heaven and Earth one and the sunset are gorgeous. Brill!
