Whilst I don’t want to over play my move to California (and I think it can be said that I have been doing so recently - this blog is testament to that), but as soon as my feet touch the ground at SFO it almost feels as if the next era of my life is set to begin. So as the final hours tick away on this one, I just wanted to pay tribute to three people who have become very important to me over the last four or five years.

So here I am, one week into the second part of this years Californian adventure. I just wanted to post a quick blog entry to thank everybody for their good wishes over the last week, and to say that I’m enjoying being back. A number of my worries about returning have been unfounded (no great surprise), and it’s great being able to get my grubby hands back on a number of key Ning projects.

Sunday evening finally saw the launch of a completely rewritten version of LloydyWeb - the seventh incarnation of this site. You can read a brief outline of what’s new here, and a run down of some of the technology that drives it, is described in the Colophon. Needless to say, given that the previous site had been around for over two years, the code is massively improved upon (and bursting at the seems with microformats), and I’d like to think the design is a little more up-to-date with current trends too.

A lot has happened in the last year, and October seems to be a month for celebrating anniversaries. On the first of this month, the Multipack reached the one year milestone, having had a successful 12 months, adding 83 members to the original four who met up in Walsall a year earlier, and hosting the first annual Geek in the Park in August. The beginning of October 2005 also saw the public unveiling of Ning, and before the month was out, I started my relationship with this company.
